Wedding Guidelines
The Rite of Marriage is most properly celebrated in the parish church of the couple. When one person is Catholic and the other is not, the marriage must take place in the Catholic Church or, with proper dispensation from one's bishop, in a church of the non-Catholic. Because the Rite of Marriage is an act of worship, marriages are not permitted to take place outdoors or in secular places such as hotels or clubhouses.
The Pastor will grant permission for a marriage to occur only when it is determined that the couple promises to live a married life according to Catholic belief and teaching, when it is confirmed that the Catholic party/parties are active members of a Catholic parish, and that the Pastor of the Catholic party/parties will take full responsibility for all sacramental and canonical preparation of the couple.
Weddings in our church may take place on Saturdays between 10 am and 1 pm only, or on weekdays up to 6 pm. No other times are permitted due to other parish obligations.
A minimum of six months preparation of the couple is required by diocesan law.
Couples are reminded never to set a date for a wedding without first having reserved a time and date with one's church.
