 “Those who sing pray twice” is a well known concept among those in liturgical ministry.  At Saint Gregory the Great, we have the benefit of many skilled musicians and many eager voices ready to be raised in musical prayer.

Saint Gregory musical ensembles are offered for children and adults in a variety of settings:

The Saint Gregory Chorale
 
   

The Chorale is composed of men and women of the parish, ages 16 and older.  This choir ministers at the 9:00 .a.m or 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass and specializes in mixed-part musical repertoire while fulfilling  its mission to encourage the active participation of the singing assembly.  Rehearsals are held Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m. September through May in the church choir loft.

Lazarus Singers
 
   
The Lazarus Singers is an ensemble composed of members 18 and older who are available to sing for funerals and memorial Masses in our parish.  There is a short rehearsal one-half hour before the scheduled service and additional practices twice yearly to add new repertoire.

Spanish Music Ensemble  
   
The Hispanic Ensemble, “Voces del Alma,” ministers weekly at the 1:30 p.m. Hispanic Mass.  Open to all people, ages 14 and older, this group will augment special services and celebrations throughout the year.  Rehearsals follow the 1:30 p.m. Mass each Sunday from approximately 2:30-3:30 p.m.

Children of Saint Gregory
 
   
This is a choir of children of the parish in grades 2 through 6 without audition.  This choir will sing at the 11:00 a.m. Mass on Christmas day and at other special times during the liturgical year.

Jubilate Schola  
   

This Schola is an auditioned chorus of youth in our parish in grades four through nine.  Auditions are held in September for the sixteen available positions.  This group ministers at various Masses monthly and at other celebrations/events and follows the Voice for Life music curriculum of the Royal Academy of Church Musicians.  Practices are held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. each Tuesday in the church choir loft.

Angelus Handbell Ensemble  
   

The “Angelus” Handbell Ensemble practices Mondays, September through May, from 6:15-7:30 p.m. in the choir loft.  This ensemble ministers at a variety of Masses and events throughout the liturgical year.

Schola Cantorum  
   
Schola Cantorum consists of an auditioned group of singers who will sing predominately Latin and/or traditional works and will sing monthly at various Masses.  This Schola rehearses once monthly from 6:00-7:00pm in the choir loft.
