“Those who sing pray twice,” is a well known saying among those in liturgical ministry.  At Saint Gregory the Great, we have the benefit of many skilled musicians and many eager voices ready to be raised in musical prayer.

Saint Gregory the Great Chorale is open to men and women ages 16 and older and provides musical leadership at the 9:00 or 11:00 a.m. Mass each Sunday (September through May).  Practices are held Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:15 p.m. in the Choir Loft.

Schola Cantorum consists of select singers drawn from the SGG Chorale whose superior sight-reading skills enable them to sing high-level motets and anthems.  “Schola” rehearses on Thursday evenings from 8:15 - 9:00 p.m. in the Choir Loft (September through May) and provides musical leadership at two Sunday Masses per month.

Saint Gregory the Great Ringers is our 3-octave Handbell Ensemble which rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. (September through May) in the Choir Loft.  Open to men and women, ages 16 and older.  NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

SGG Teen/Young Adult Choir is open to High School students, Young Adults and musical leadership at the 5:00 p.m. Mass each Sunday (September through May). Rehearsals are held one hour prior to Mass at 4:00 p.m. in the Choir Loft. In addition to singers, orchestral and band instrumentalists are encouraged to add their talents to this Mass as well as guitarists and percussionists.

Joyful Praise Singers and Ringers is an ensemble for children in our parish in grades 3 – 8. Joyful Praise sings a variety of repertoire, unison, 2-part and 3-part anthems. Additionally, a portion of each rehearsal is dedicated to Handbell playing.  “Joyful Praise” provides musical leadership at two - 11:00 a.m. Masses per month (September through May) and rehearses on Tuesday afternoons from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. in the Choir Loft.

SGG Cherub Choir is open to all children in our parish in grades K – 2.  This special choir is being formed to sing at one of our Christmas Masses, to be determined at a later date.  Practices will be held once weekly during the 4 weeks prior to the Christmas Mass.  More information on dates and times will appear in our parish bulletin.

Lazarus Singers is an ensemble comprised of men and women 18 and older who are available to sing for funerals and memorial Masses in our parish.  Funerals generally take place on weekday or Saturday mornings with “Lazarus” rehearsing 1/2 hour prior.
