Dear Parishioners of St. Gregory the Great,

As of June 5, 2021, Bishop Guglielmone has lifted general dispensation for the Diocese of Charleston. As a follow up to his letter, specifically to St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church:

We continue to recommend the wearing of masks but acknowledge that those who have been full vaccinated are no longer required to do so.

We continue to recommend at least three feet of spacing between families seated in the church.

The offertory procession will return to its normal place during the celebration of the Mass.

The procession will include the passing of the baskets for offertory collection.

The distribution of Holy Communion has already returned to its normal place in the celebration of the Mass, however a parishioner may receive Communion on the tongue if so desired.

We are recommending Communion in the hand.

The Parish Life Center (Gathering Room) may be used for overflow, but only after the Sanctuary of the main church has reached a recommended capacity.

We appreciate the work of our priests, deacons, sisters, parish staff, and ministry coordinators and volunteers who have helped see us through this pandemic and have continued to serve the church in so many ways. We know that this past year has been difficult for many of you and has been a challenge in returning to regular activities and schedules. It is our encouragement that you review the bishop’s letter, our revised protocols above, and visit so that it gives you that opportunity to decern how to return to the Table of the Lord.

Should you need further assistance, please contact our parish offices at 843-815-3100. We look forward to being together as one family.

Yours in Christ,

Rev. Msgr. Ronald R. Cellini, Pastor, VF, VP
