PARISH COMMITTEES AND COUNCILS
The Pastoral Council has the primary responsibility for advising the Pastor regarding its overall Mission and Vision, discussing issues pertaining to the common good of the parish and conducting periodic Parish Surveys. There are a total of seven (7) at-large members, who are parishioners, that are appointed by the Pastor. Parishioners wishing to have topics presented at a Pastoral Council meeting are to submit a formal request to any member of the Pastoral Council or the Parish Manager at least 15 business days prior to any meeting. The Pastoral Council usually meets the fourth (4th Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
The areas of responsibility of the parish Finance Committee are: to develop the annual operating budget and to monitor it on a monthly basis; to oversee the investment of funds accumulated for capital needs; to approve all major expenditures of parish funds; and to advise the pastor on financial matters—all in accordance with the requirements of the Catholic Code of Canon Law and diocesan regulations. Members are invited by the pastor to serve, based upon their experience and recommendations given to the pastor.
Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.
The purpose of this committee is to educate, communicate, and provide opportunities for the parish community to participate in stewardship. In addition, it develops and implements actions plans to provide resources for all parish projects, under pastoral guidance. The committee emphasizes parishioners’ commitment of Time, Talent, and Treasure to the well-being of the parish, the people of God, and the common good. Parishioners are invited each year to commit themselves to particular times of prayer, to offer their talents and skills, and to begin the practice of tithing as an expression of Christian giving.
Members of this committee are appointed by the Pastor for three-year terms.
Facilities Management Committee
The Building Committee is responsible for planning and overseeing the design, construction, and maintenance of all permanent parish facilities for worship, instruction, parish social life, and recreation. The committee is made upof parishioners versed in construction, landscaping, contracts, finance, and aesthetic design. Members are appointed to the committee by the pastor. Subcommittees or task groups are also formed with additional parishioners to work on specific projects. Current projects include: 1)completion of the parish Resurrection Garden (mausoleum and columbarium) and 2) development of the next stages of the parish master plan, including construction of a multi-purpose facility and a new parish church.
Currently being reformed
This committee is made up of a group of parishioners who have a background in general media, public relations, journalism, and Church communications. The focus is on special projects, response to current situations, planning for upcoming parish events, and communicating all of these effectively to the parish and the civic community. Meetings are scheduled as needed.
